Error during closing PowerPoint presentation

I receive this error message when I want to close a
presentation: "PowerPoint found an error that it can't
correct. You should save presentations, quit, and then
restart PowerPoint." I have to terminate the PowerPoint
process in the Windows Task Manager, otherwise, I will
not be able to start the program.

I am using PowerPoint from Microsoft Office 2000 Premium
and Windows XP Professional (with Service Pack 1). I have
reinstalled the Office, but the problem still exists. I
would appreciate any advice or help. Thanks
