Error downloading codec!!!!!!

I have recently downloaded a movie off of Kazaa but when
i try to play it in windows media player 9 all i get is
the sound and i have downloaded the updated codec for it
from the windows update and i would really like to know
how to fix this problem or what program i need to play
this video its an .avi any help would be great

Canned response:

You need to install the video codec required to display that movie file.
Open the file with GSpot to identify the codec, and then do a search for
that codec: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ Is this a downloaded avi movie
file by any chance? If so, install the ffdshow codec:

i have downloaded a film from kazza.when i went to watch it on theatre and windows media player 9 it said error downloading codec.what can i do
