After restoring the "My Documents" directory using Retrospect Pro,
I'm left with a subdirectory--several, actually--of the same name on
my desktop. When attempting to delete the offending directories, I
get "Cannot delete My Documents: Access denied."

The directories are marked as read-only and the check box background
color is light gray.

I've tried renaming, resetting permissions, the work arounds from
this group, &c., &c., &c. to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Doug

Chris;

I tried the checkpoints and workarounds with the following results:

1.
C:\Documents and Settings\Doug Rathbun\Desktop\SysMaint>rd /s cant_delete
cant_delete, Are you sure (Y/N)? y
cant_delete\BACKUP~1\doug\MYDOCU~1 - Access is denied.
cant_delete\CANTDE~1\MYDOCU~1 - Access is denied.
cant_delete\CANTDE~2\doug\MYDOCU~1 - Access is denied.

C:\Documents and Settings\Doug Rathbun\Desktop\SysMaint>

2.
Not applicable. This is a directory, not a file.

3.
Can't move directory, "Access denied." However, I can move the parent directory
with the offending subdirectory enclosed. Still can't delete the culprit.

4.
No joy.

Tried the ATTRIB approach. No joy here either.

5.
Nope.

I'm off to try the microsoft route. This is no biggy, it's just that I should
be able to bend the system to MY will!.

Thanks,
Doug
