ERROR Copying File or Folder

M

*** Mike Royce ***

After installing SP2 on Windows XP Professional, trying to
copy files from my digital camera to the hard drive with
Explore, I get this message (plus "<file name> There is not
enough free memory").

All of my other major programs seem to work fine.

I went back to my backup drive (prior to SP2 install) and I
can copy & paste all 149 files with 97MB with no problems.
With the SP2 update, I can only copy & paste 5 or so files
with each file being around 300kb in size. It seems to be
the "paste". I can "copy" all of the files with no problems.
"Drag & Drop" copy process causes same problem. Using
another file manager (PowerDesk) causes same problem.

Did you guys figure this out? I have exactly the same problem but I can
download only one or two 300k pictures at a time without getting the "not
enough free memory" problem. I don't have any other programs running and
just cleaned up the disk drive with the virtual memory and there is 3GB free.
I switched the virtual memory management around and that didn't help. I
wondered if it would help if I updated my camera's driver, but the latest
available driver predates SP2 by several months. My camera is a Kodak DX4330
- could that be a common thread?

Fixed it. Uninstalled Kodak easyshare software, did not update kodak drivers
and just plugged camera into USB. XP recognized it and I could download all
the pictures on the flash memory card at one time.
