Assuming that the music files on your CD are in MP3 format, check if your
music player supports MP3s. Not all players support MP3 especially older
models, they probably use CDA (Compact Disk Audio). You can convert your
files on your harddrive and then burn to a CD, then they may be playable.
Below is the website (URL) where you can download a free converter:

Attempting to play content on a portable devices will not present you with
error codes from Windows Media Player.

Generic answers like "Unknown" does not help this individual with his problem.
You've got him looking for a needle in a haystack.
BTW: Who cares about error codes "on his player" as long as it plays/works.

So stating some random crap that might not relate to the problem does? You
must narrow down the "needle in a haystack" in order to give any good
advise. Random suggestions like what you generally give does not help at
all. Sorry to say. :\

Because he asked a "random" question. Read it again.
"My music player will not play my CDs why? Capish???

Why not reply with something helpful or not at all? The users don't need
random advise that will just give them more problems! There is no point in
posting pure crap, it makes you look unintelligent, and does not help the OP
or anyone searching the newsgroup.

Hope you don't mind me entering this thread. I'm a newbie and have an error
code too. COODOFCF This has to do w/ntuser. Local Settings/Administrator
and Owner both have sets of the same two icons: ntuser (w/a media 9 icon)
and a notepad icon reading ntuser.dat. The set in Owner do nothing and
cannot be opened nor deleted. The media 9 icon in Administrator will open
with media 9. The player comes up and a window appears with the above error
code in it. Another maybe important fact is that AVir gives me between 20
and 24 warning messages each week on scheduled run. My computer is clean and
AVir usually detects nothing else. Most of the warning messages (about 80%)
have to do w/this ntuser and the AVir not being able to get into the file.
Do I have a problem here? Do I need the icons? Should I just ignore the
warning messages? Any help would be appreciated. I run XP on 2.2ghz
processor, 248 ram. Also defrag does not complete leaving a very small bit
of red, not enough to register in results. I believe this might be due to
the ntuser issue. Thanks for letting me post. tia
