Hello all, I have xp sp3 installed on my pc and Im having problems when I
connect my external hard drive. Ive been told by the manufacturers that I
dont need a driver as it is a plug and play device and that the pc should
recognise it automatically.
I attached the drive and yes the pc poped up a message saying 'new hardware
found' it then proceeds to ask for a driver. To cut a long story shorter,
when selecting 'my computer' the drive hasnt been picked up but appears in
the device manager with an error code 28 attached to it.
The drive is recognised automatically on other pcs as a plug n play
devicebut not mine !!!

Ive searched high n low for solutions but I either dont understand or cant
follow the instructions some people have supplied as a solution. As Im a
total newbie, does anyone out there have a simple step by step easy idiots
guide on how to resolve my issue. Im at the end of my probervial tether!!!

Hi C.I,m no expert but i might be able to help.If you see the device in
device manager. You should be able to right click on the
item, properties, driver, update driver. If not write down the name and model
number of your device.Type the name of your product into the search bar. When
you get the manufacturer site there should be an option for a driver
download. And or driver by model number.Hope this helps.TERRY.
