I am trying to get my laptop running windows xp pro to
recognize and enable a Siig 2port firewire pcmcia card.
For some reason every time I plug it in, it recognizes the
hardware and then generates a code 10 error (which I do
not understand).

Theoretically, windows xp has the driver built in so not
sure what the error is all about. If anyone has any
feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Error code 10 in Windows: The environment is incorrect. I am not sure of the
meaning. Did you receive software with the card? Did you load it?

I had a similar problem when I downloaded the latest driver from MS update and was not able to get online. I finally went into device manager and selected the return to old driver setting and the PC is OK. So much for "UPDATES"

No, the card supposedly should work with the built in
driver in windows xp pro so I figure that I may need to
check the driver situation. It is odd that the
environment is incorrect as this card was supposedly
working before. I will try to restore the previous driver
setting but don't think they downloaded an update for the
firewire card. Hmmmm.....
