Hello

Please does somebody have any idea why I keep receiving
the following message and how do I go about fixing this.

The error is as follows:
Source : Service Control Manager
Event ID : 7001

The Sentinel service depends on the Parport service wich
failed to start because it is either disabled or no
enabled device is associated with it.

I always seem to receive this message when the server
actually falls over, is there any conncetion and why do
these services fail???

Any feedback would be appreciated!!

I don't believe this error would cause the server to
reboot (or is the subject line incorrect?)

The Sentinel driver is a third party driver for accessing
a security dongle on the Parallel Port. The error message
is saying that it cannot start the service because either
a. The Parallel port is disabled, in which case enable it
in the BIOS
b. The sentinel driver is trying to access a different
port, in which case try reloading the driver
or
c. There is no security dongle on the parallel port
In any case with the Sentinel driver not started the
application that accesses the security dongle should fail
as it would be unable to authenticate.

In my experience this error would not cause the server to
reboot, so I would suggest looking for other errors,
assuming this is the problem you are trying to solve.

By the way do you get this message when the server fails,
or when the server starts?

Kevin
