Error Beep on links - please help

When I click on certain links in IE 6.0, I get an error message from the
speaker (if I turn volume off, there is no beep). The page does not
load. There is no error message on the screen. If I Copy Shortcut, I
can open the link, but this does not work for all types of links. This
may happen for some links on a website, while other links in the same
site will work fine. I do not get this problem when using Netscape. I
assume my program is corrupted but do not know how to reinstall. Can
anyone offer ideas?

Control panel \ add remove \ IE... choose to repair.
