Error backing up windows registry

I used the windows article 322756, to back up my registry
but I made an error when I did that. I backed up a whole
hive, and it says that it cannot be done the way I did it.
I used the section Export Registry Keys.
Is there any way to fix this? Should I just throw the
computer out the window and stomp on it?
