Error Applying Attributes

I encrypted the contents of a secondary drive. I use XP
Pro. I needed to de-encrypt the drive. All four Folders
cleared. All sub-folders and files in three of the four
folders cleared. But in the fourth folder, four sub-
folders cleared OK, while the fifth remains encrypted,
with all files still with green icons. Trying to change
the security settings on the sub-folder or on the
individual files results in the error message: "Error
Applying Attributes: An error occured applying attributes
to the file ...... Access is denied.." The files will
display properties, with sizes and type of file, but the
files will not open. There are over 15,000 files in this
folder, and I need to get them back. ( The back-up, on
another drive, was corrupted, and un-recoverable.)
Is there a way to remove the encryption from this last,
stubborn folder? I have tried the techniques set out in
the MS Knowledge Base, to no avail. Thanks.
