Error appear in the "Open" window

When I open powerpoint and i choose the option "open"
an error appear: "Error I/O 6"
then the application ends.
All the other functions in powerpoint work, only the open
menu give me the problem.
Another example: if I open a powerpoint file in explorer
by a double-click, the application work correctly.
I have WinXp Pro Sp1 and Office 2000 Premiun Sp2.
Plese help me, I also tryed to uninstall and istall
office again but the problem is the same.
