Apparently some folks don't read earlier postings before posting here.
If you had, you'd see that SP4 and the Oct 15th batch of security
patches were quite disastrous for a significant number of people.
I removed them from my system so that I could continue using my
computer. Until MS comes up with an explanation and perhaps some
updated & well-tested fixes, I'll remain leery of Windows Update for
both my Win 2000 Pro and XP Home systems.

yes, after installing the most recent updates, I'm having
problems loading word. It will open properly but 10
seconds after opening, my computer shuts down and it gives
me a "kmode exception not handled" error then reboots my
computer. have you solved your problem?
