After compacting a 100 MB back-end .mdb file without any problem, a user
received this error when trying to add a new record through a form:

Reserved error (-1517); no message for this error.

The field in question has a default value of zero, and that is showing when
opening the form. As soon as the user tabs into the field, this message
pops-up.

Needless to say, no article on MS KB comes up with this error number.

Software: Access 2000 on Windows 2000 Pro, all patches and service packs are
current on both the OS and Office 2000.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Relink the tables in the FE.

Re-linked tables without errors. Still received "Reserved error (-1517);..."
message.

I'm curious. How did you relink the tables? Using the Linked Table
Manager Add-in?

Try compacting the FE. If nothing else works then delete the table
link and recreate the link.

I did use the LTM add-in in the first place.
Followed your suggestions [compacting the FE] with no success. Finally,
re-creating the table links did the job.

Thank you very much for your help.
