error accessing network shares

I'm trying to access network workstations and I get
error "logon failure: the target account name is
incorrect". Does anyone have a know why I'm getting this
error? By the way I'm running W2k server with AD. We have
about 90 workstations.
 
How are you trying to access them? I would try to establish connectivity by
pinging them by IP address and fully qualified domain name such as " ping
comptuer22.mydomain2.com " and seeing if the address returned is the same.
Make sure your dns is configured correctly with the domain controllers
pointing to themselves or other domain controllers only and the domain
computers pointing only to a domain controller running dns for the domain.
The error may be referring to a computer name rather than a user name as
described in the KB below. It may help to run netdiag on one of the domain
computers where this is happening looking for any errors such as failed
tests or fatal errors. --- Steve
