yes, there is a lot of persons with this error, and they have make the same
process to resolved.
use nero amd others burner´s but the problem remaines.
Can Microsoft tell us how to install vista?
thank you

Vitor:
I had the same error code during installation. In my case it wasn't
the DVD that I made it was a corrupt file in the download. My second
download worked without problems.

Vitor,
I had the same problems with 4 downloads that failed during install. The
whole problem (at least for me) is the Microsoft Download Manager. I checked
the MD5 checksum on the first 4 and they were all different (and incorrect)!

Finally I used Firefox to download from the 'provide your own download
manager' link on the right side of the download page. I used Nero checksum
and it matched!!

I then cut the iso to disk at 2X using Roxio EMC8 on DVD+R media.

Then I copied the whole disk to a local D:\ folder and installed from there.
This is 10X faster and prevents the CD-ROM drive from over heating.

2.5 Hrs. from checksum to a running system on my Gateway NX550XL laptop.

I really like Vista :-) !!!!

I just wanted to add: Had it not been for people like Andre Da Costa et
al... I would still be swimming UP that proverbial stream (without a paddle!).

I've the same problem (error 80070241) but it appeared at 98%!!!!
I've tryed to burn dvd with Nero at 2x but the istallation failed at 98%
copying files...I've tryed to execute the iso file from alcohol 120% with a
virtual drive but the same error is appeared at the same point.
The Win Vista Upgrade Advisory said that my PC is fine to Win Vista...
I thynk that the iso file is corrupted and i don't know if a new download is
the ending solution to resolve the problem; i've order the dvd kit from
Microsoft bur don't send me before 28 days!!!!!
If someone can HELP me....many thanks!!!!

Maxx, your missing the point of my post! Go back and re-read it.
If you get garbage down from the down load, your problems can start at any %.
Garbage in -> Garbage out!
Use the Nero MD5 Verifier to see if you have a good download! I've been up
till 3:30 AM the last two nights!!!

Look at many post on this forum, they tell you the proper MD5 code:
- MD5 Value = 0E733AB1A8E8FF9A8684FD3639332773

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html
The help tells you how to use it.
Complements of Andre Da Costa.

If it does not match... your wasting your time!!

But, I have a good one now. And I love Vista.

I get the same error message. Checksum is correct. Tried on 2 different
computers. Used dvd+r, dvd-r and mount with daemon. Nothing works.

I have this error to.....

why cant Vista do a checksum? fedora core allows yuo to test the DVDs
before you begin installation.

I simply do not ahve the patience to download 4GB gain, burn a DVD, adn then
to be told that there is a problem with the download.

Why hasn't Microsoft got its act together? The free software Fedora Linux
of Redhat tests the DVD before proceeding with the installation.

I'm actually getting the exact same problem from a disk they sent out. At 2%
which is thankfully not as annoying as 98%! I've tried installing from boot
up and fromt he existing XP session but its having none of it. There seems to
be a common theme that SATA drives produce errors, and i am using that. I've
tried copying the DVD and burning and 2x and that hasn't helped any.

I think its a conflict with some hardware, not just a dodgey download. It
also seems to be a certain measure of pot luck, which is not good for
microsoft. Hopefully they will iron it out and do a new release...
