I currently run a laptop with Windows 2000 Pro pre-installed (and no disk supplied by vendor - second hand). It had been working perfectly until I installed some digital camera software and a pop-up blocker (oops)! Since then, I haven't been able to get on the internet from any connection on that computer. I had been using dial-up connections, and assumed it was an error with my internal modem, but when I came to try my external broadband modem, the same error occurs with that!
I am not a tinkerer and hope someone can help me. I have had the network settings checked out and they are apparently ok. I don't have the disk for the broadband modem at the moment because we've just moved house (it - along with the rest of the house - is in a box) and, as stated, never did have the Windows 2000 Pro disc. Also in a box somewhere I have Windows XP, if that will help me out.
Hoping all those of you who know what you're doing can help me out!
Cheers.
