error 619 etc

Hi folks
First. I keep getting the Error 619 when I try to connect to the Internet.
I have recently re-installed modem as per instructions for this error
message. However I am not sure now if I have installed the right version of
driver for Sagem 800-4000- I think it is 2 2 9 14- at least I got that
number from somewhere when I was trying to check, but according to Tiscali
the latest is 2.0 31. (Why do they not give the version number in their
driver updates)?
If I switch off then on again it nearly always works. In addition I have
only one connection- as far as I know,(although I find the connect box using
desktop icon is different from the one that comes up if I use OE or IE icon,
yet sometimes I have connected using the desktop icon but when I click OE it
says "I am off line and do I want to connect" or "Do I want to try and
connect using current connection"?? Sorry if all this is confusing.

Have you contacted the manufacturer's tech support, have you considered
replacing the modem? Have you checked to make sure no other applications
are using the modem, fax software might interfere with the modem's function?
If this is a WinModem, that is a software controllerless modem, have you
looked into modems with their own controller.
