I just set up my Windows Mail in Vista and when I try send an email I get
this "Command Received 554 relay access denied (e-mail address removed) ." Email
just sits in the outbox. The Embarq tech support told me it was a Mcafee AV
problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Wow... you're a lucky person. Most ISPs play, or are, dim.
You need to uninstall McAfee entirely and
replace it with a Vista compatible alternative
such as Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Don't install or enable the email scanning component.

Then delete and recreate your email account.

If you ever get another message stuck in the out box
download this utility (and follow the instructions in the red box)

http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx

In addition to Julian's advice (replace McAfee), there is another
issue here. If uninstalling McAfee does not fix the problem,
right-click on the error message, copy, and paste it into a reply here.
Don't try to paraphrase the error message as this will lose pertinent
diagnostic details.
