I have two AD-integrated DNS servers in my private, single-domain forest.
Each points to the other for DNS resolution as the primary, then to
themselves for secondary. All clients point to each DNS server according to
DHCP scope settings.

On ONLY ONE of the DNS servers - the second one created, I get the following
message:

Error 4006: The DNS server was unable to create a name in memory for name
(wkstn name) in zone (domain name) in the Active Directory.

I get this error for eight of my workstations. On the DNS server generating
the errors, I don't see the workstations in DNS. The other DNS server has
the eight workstations listed.

Any thoughts? TIA for your help!

This error occurs if the names are invalid DNS names. DNS will not load these names and name resolution for these machines will not work. If the machines
referenced are actual machines on your network, verify that the names of these machinces follow the DNS RFC for allowed charaters in DNS. If not, they will
need to be renamed. If these machines are not machines on your network, you can use ADSIedit to find the machine names in the DNS zone and remove
them. If you are not familiar with ADSIEdit I would not recommend this step.

Thank you,
