New to Access 2007 and iam trying to open my two databases Wine and Stamps
created seperatly in 2000 both with a switchboard but the stamp database has
images along with the records when trying to open these in 2007 i get the
error message.
"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the wine list.mdb`object.
Have your system administrator or the person who created this object
establish the appropriate permissions for you".
Not knowing too much about security I `am the only user and there has never
been any passwords created as far as i know i`am the admin and any user , it
would be nice for an easy solution before i purchase Access 2007.

Try putting your db in a trusted location.

Go to the officebutton
Choose Access-options
Fron that dialog go to the [trustcenter]
Designate your directory where your db resides as trusted and try again.

Thank you for the reply
It has opened the stamp database which has different images to each recoord
along with all the queries, but the wine data base still has the same error
message the only difference with this database is has a switchboard and a web
link field to each record, unless there is something on the security side
related to the 2000 version.

Ok, does your db use an workgroup file? Another option would be to create a
similar but new switchboard to the one you already have. Do this in a copy of
your database and delete the old switchboard.

Also make sure the macro's are enabled.

Thank you once again I had to alter in the security settings the permissions
in the user and group permissions menu which opened the wine database along
with the switchboard as well.
This part of Access is completly new to me as i`am the only person who uses
the pc and database it gets over looked and a lot of manuals to not explain
this function fully.

I had exactly the same problems. In the end i had to recreate all my
databases and then grant all the correct user permissions as i was
re-building. It is certantly worth
Downloading the following Microsoft Access 2000 Security FAQ link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/207793/en-us

It gives instructions on how to remove user-group security from a database.
It is frustrating if you do not need any security aspects to your work as
there are no other users. Unfortunatly access is not really designed for
single users but for a office environment.
