Hi,

I place a program on various client computers. The
program basically utilizes 1995 Access and is no longer
supported by the vendor. On some of the XP machines (not
most tho) we've come accross the "Error 2004 - Out of
Memory" when trying to open the program.

I think this is the correct forum, please advise if not.
Can anyone explain why this would happen on some not all
XPs (anything to do w/ the presence or lack of another
Access program?), and more importantly how to
adjust/correct so the program can be utilized, I would
greatly appreciate it. Simplicity is extremely
appreciated :-)

Thank you.

Access 95 always was buggy, and is no longer supported by Microsoft. It's
also difficult to get help with Access 95 in newsgroups such as this one, as
many Access developers avoided it, sticking with Access 2 until Access 97
was released. Very few Access developers today have any recent experience
with Access 95. For all of these reasons, if your vendor suppliers a later
version of their application, my advice would be to upgrade ASAP.

Other than that, the only advice I can offer is to ensure that all of the
fixes and patches for Office 95 are installed. Unfortunately, I'm not sure
that those patches are still available from Microsoft's web site. The Office
Update site lists only downloads for Office 97 and later. You could try
Microsoft's FTP site - you can sometimes find old files there that are
difficult to find elsewhere. It's worth downloading the index first, as
there are so many files there that it takes ages just to list them. You can
search the index and then download the file you want directly instead of
browsing the site. The index can be downloaded at the following URL ...

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/index.txt
