I previously operated a web site for a charity using FP98 on a laptop, with
Windows 95, which developed publication problems. I moved the files onto a
desk top machine, again using FP98, but this time with Windows 98, but the
problems persisted. I have now upgraded to FP2000, but I still get the
following message (I think it's been the same problem every time):-

Server Error: Error 2 opening Registry Key SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shared
Tools/Web Server Extensions/Ports/Port 80

I had a quick look using Regedit, but as I didn't know whether what I was
seeing was right or wrong, (and there was nothing obvious, to me at least),
it wasn't a lot of help.

I want to get my site back online and updated. What's the problem? and how
can I solve it?

I should be grateful for advice

Philip

Does the remote server have the FP extensions? Is so contact your host, and
ask them to run a check on the extensions.

Ugh! If you don't know what's going on the registry, please don't go into
it with regedit. Major BAD things can happen on your computer if something
gets screwed up. besides, this is a problem on your web host, not your
computer. Send them a trouble ticket and have them verify the up to date
extensions are installed (double check them on tools menu and compare to
extension list @ MS). It's on their end.
