Hi, it seems a few people had this similar problem, but
did anyone succeed to solve it?

When installing the latest build 615 the installation
crasches near the end with six Error 1904's dialogues

This is the first one:
"Error 1904. Module c:\Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware\gcAntiSpywareLib.dll failed to register.
HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel."

The other five are identical except that they list
different dll's that aren't able to register.

These six dialogues are followed by a new
dialogue "Unexpected error. Quitting"

This last one I also get when trying to launch the
Microsoft AntiSpyware app.

I have tried deleting all temp folders before
installation but that does not help.

Great if someone could point me in the right direction to
get this solved. Righ now I am unable to run the software.

Best regards

Chris

This is something wrong with Windows, rather than MS AntiSpyware.

First, check that you are trying the installation from an account with
Administrator privileges.

Next, check your Windows installation to see if it is corrupted in any way.
You could for instance try running the command:

sfc /scannow

Is there any possibility that you might already be infected with malware?

Experiencing similar problems following updating/and then
a new install of version 615. But in addition other Users
on my PC have received a second error message:-

"Error 1905. Module c:\Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware\gcAntiSpywareLib.dll failed to register.
HRESULT -2147220472. Contact your support personnel."

Using my personal User account (with Admin Privileges) I
do not receive either message and I am the one who
installed the software. Both of the other Users also have
Admin rights.

Earlier today I re-installed Windows over its self but I
still received the "Unexpected error Message". Sweeping
the machine using Adware produced some tracking items
which I have removed.

Can you check the Properties of the folder
c:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\
on tab Security, to see if its Security settings permit the other users full
access.

Checked folder for its security settings. Folder not set
up to allow other users access.

Attempted to allow the folder to be shared with other
users. When logging in as another User Error 101 message
received. Two Windows with the same with same 101
Message.

I have the exact same problem on my desktop computer for me and my
husband (we both have an administrator account with passwords). He gets
the error message and I don't. The icon doesn't show on his account. I
tried uninstalling it completely, went through the registry and deleted
EVERY entry. Tried to reinstall it on his account. I then get an error
while installing

"Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware
\gcAntiSpywareLibrary.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147220473.
Contact your support personnel"

When I install the program on my own account I don't get the error and it
works fine for me, but the error box comes up as soon as my husband logs
on to his account.

This all started after update to version 615 with def. vers. 5735. Before
that everything worked perfectly ok for all users on the computer (I also
have a Guest account)

I have a laptop with just one user on it and there everything works fine,
no errors.

I installed the latest version of MS Antispyware yesterday on two
different machines (desktop and laptop) with same error. Under my
administrative account all is well, under my wife's "Unexpected error,
quitting" seen on both machines. Her account is also administrative.

I have found my own little "work around" solution for this problem, untill
there is a better option available (I search these newsgroups reglarly and
nobody seems to know how to fix this).
Instead of having MSAS automatically startup for every user on the computer,
I changed it to only startup for me (I'm the user who doesn't get the error
message). This way my husband doesn't have to deal with the "Unexpected
error" message box (he's somewhat computer illiterate and hates everything
that doesn't work like before) and the program still runs when I'm logged on
and it will scan the computer completely at night.

I just posted my "solution" in the General newsgroup on
this topic under the "Limited User -- New Beta Release"
thread that started ~22 July.

Though I can't explain *why*, the *what* is that registry
permissions and ownership are set too restrictively: they
allow the person who installed the software access but they
do not allow other members of the Administrators group
access to the necessary parts of the registry.
