Whenever I try to install certain applications (notably
Acrobat Reader 6 and the support app for my SMC WiFi card)
on my (not new, but recently-acquired) Win2000 Pro laptop,
I get an InstallShield error "1607: Unable to install
InstallShield Scripting Runtime".
I've already followed the KnowledgeBase advice about
assigning permissions to the SYSTEM account in DCOMCNFG,
with no change. The person I bought the laptop from was
trying unsuccessfully to upgrade from Office 97 to Office
2000 before I took posession, if that's any
help...although I don't know what specific errors he got,
and he doesn't remember, I did notice a KB article about
that too.
Any help?
