My company has a copy of MS Antispyare on our network and
I attempted to install it directly to my computer from a
mapped network drive. I got the Error 1325 message at
that point. I copied the program to my C Drive & tried
again, got the same message. I tried to download & run
directly from the website, same result. I tried to
download & run the Installer Cleanup Utility, got the
same error message again.

The only thing of consequence I have done to the computer
recently is remove the 2nd hard drive. I only mention
this because I saw the same error message in relation to
MS Office and it was the result of a drive map error.
However, the solution then was to run the Installer
Cleanup, but as I already stated, I tried that & it
didn't work.

Can anyone help?

What are your TEMP and TMP directories set to?

From a command prompt, type "set" to view the values

Jeff

VALUES:

TEMP=C:\DOCUME~1\ROBERT~1\LOCALS~1\Temp
TMP=C:\DOCUME~1\ROBERT~1\LOCALS~1\Temp

Jeff,

I followed your instructions (I think).

I went to CMD and typed

Set TEMP=C:\Temp
Set TMP=C:\Temp

and when I looked at the settings again, they had been
changed.

So I closed CMD, re-ran the install, got the same error.

I then rebooted the computer, thinking that might be
required, but when I came back up, I re-ran the install
and I still got the same error message.

Worse, when I checked the settings in CMD prompt, the
TEMP and TMP had reverted to the original settings.

Did I miss something? Did I not change the settings
correctly? Or is there something I need to change in the
registry settings as well?

Thanks for all your help with this.

You use Control Panel to set your temp settings.

Control Panel/System/Advanced Tab, Environment Variables button near the
bottom.

I followed your instructions and was able to change the
temp settings. After rebooting computer, I tried to load
MSAS, still got the same error message.

However, in desperation, I logged in as the administrator
on the local computer (I have administrator rights in my
own profile, but it is on the network domain).

Under this profile, I downloaded a fresh copy of MSAS
from the website, and was able to install the program.

HOWEVER, when I returned to my own profile name, it tried
to install again, and found an entirely new error
message, that the folder C:\Program Files\Fixed Asset
Depreciation had an invalid character.

But after several attempts it managed to start up.

Now, every time I open the program it tries to re-
install, gives the invalid character error message, then
starts and seems to run fine.

I'm concerned, though, that the continuing issue may
cause the program to degrade and cause other problems.
Is this a valid concern?
