I install the Microsoft Antispyware and it complete the
instalation O.K., but when I try to open the program it
send me an error (critical error (error 101) reboot the
program, if the error persist contact Microsoft).
I reboot the program, and reboot the computer an the error
persist.
What can I do?
Thanks

I got the same message. It says for support email
(e-mail address removed). Is this a scam or what?

It is not a scam. This is a beta product, and there are still some rough
edges--that message is one of them. Please don't write that alias, or call
Microsoft--the tech support for this beta product is right here.

The suggested fix for the issue you and Daguiva are seeing is:

1) Go to Control Panel, Add or Remove programs, highlight Microsoft
Antispyware, and choose Change. Work your way through the choices, until
you see Update--choose Update.

2) See if that takes care of the issue. If it does not, return to Control
Panel, Add or Remove programs, and remove the program, then reinstall it.

If neither step takes care of the problem post back to this thread.

I use windows xp home and it worked,
thanks...

Hello,
Neither of the suggested fixes worked for me, any help
would be appreciated.
I installed this software on a clean windows installation
after only installing certain drivers, I previously
installed this software on the exact same machine with no
problems what so ever, Running Windows XP SP2.

Thanks

You've gone beyond my ability to help, I'm afraid.

If you search these groups on the key "error 101" you can check all the
other threads on this topic to see if I've missed anything that has worked
for others. I vaguely recall some advice about DCOM permissions, but I
don't have it at my fingertips.

Thank you Bill, my problem is now solved- the DCom service
was in fact not running, as soon as i fired it up the
program worked like a charm.
For the protocol- go to Control Panel->Administrative
Tools->Services, find Dcom... service and start it.

Thanks alot :D

Terrific--Any idea why it wasn't running? Something you might have disabled
just 'cause you weren't using it?

the only way i can even find more than just the icon is to
search hidden folders and then...I notice Giant was
quarinted with it I did not know I even had giant does it
go by a different name...how do I fix my mess

I recommend that you go to Control Panel, Add or remove programs, and scroll
down to Microsoft Antispyware.

Choose Remove.

That will uninstall the program.

Please try it again when the program is released--this bug will be fixed,
I'm sure.
