Installed Giant AntiSpyware on a XP 5.1.2600 SP2 after
installed i run the progrsm and an error appear with error
101 the it closed, try to restart pc with no luck.

Why this is 2nd time on 2 diffrent pc ant i have total
installed it on at least 15 pc last month.

Any ideas?

Roger

Locate gcasDtServ.exe and double click. Add a shortcut gcasDtServ.exe to
your Desktop. Oddly when you double click the shortcut it doesn't start
MSAS but places an icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar. Double
click on that and MSAS starts.

Others have overcome Start problems in different ways but what I have
described works for me.

Hope this helps.

We are trying to track down this pesky problem. Can you see any difference
between the problem machines and the ones where the install goes ok?

Can you repost with your email address?

If you see a dialog box with the following message after you start your
computer or when you start Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware, you need to repair
or reinstall Windows AntiSpyware. The following message can also refer to
Error 102 or Error 103:
Warning: Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware has encountered a critical error
(Error 101). Please restart Windows AntiSpyware and run the program again.
If you continue to experience this problem, please uninstall the program and
install the most recent version of Windows AntiSpyware. You can use Add or
Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall this version of Windows
AntiSpyware.

You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in Control
Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and then
click Update.

If you see the critical error message again, uninstall Windows AntiSpyware
and reinstall it. To do this, use Add or Remove Programs in the Windows
Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Remove. You can
reinstall Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware at
www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software.

I have some doubts regarding the procedure for eliminating Error 101.
Originally I had version 1.0.501 and I used that procedure. I had the
error with 1.0.501 and it is still there with 1.0.509. I tried the
Repair option and it made no difference. The procedure in the latest
Release Notes may work on some computers but not on this one.

Gerry - if you are still having this issue on a given machine, and build
..509 hasn't fixed it, nor has the procedure in the release notes--reply to
Jeff Dillon's message with an email address--you may be able to help him
out.

Bill Sanderson says you may be interested to know I am still getting
Error 101 on starting MSAS, although I have a workaround. He says to
give you my email address. Just reverse part so that it reads
btinternet.

Thanks to Gerry!

I'm glad it does the job, but of course the real question is what is
preventing this process from autostarting on the affected machines?

Bill

Nice to have company <g>.
