Sorry if this message appears twice. There appeared to be a problem when I
first tried to post it.

I recently changed from cable modem to DSL. I set up the account info in
Outlook correctly but I keep getting error 0x800CCC78, asking me to double
check the email address in account properties. The email address (and
incoming/outgoing server info) are correct so I don't understand what the
problem could be? When I searched on the error code in Knowledge Base, I got
a hit for having the saved password disappear automatically and how to
resolve but nothing on the issue I am experiencing. I'm pretty positive it
isn't a Verizon problem (DSL provider) I have XP Pro and Outlook 2002 SP2.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Andee,
please read

Found out what the problem was. I had to check the box to authenticate my
mail and the box directly below it to treat my outgoing server the same as my
incoming server. I don't remember ever doing that before but it fixed the
problem. Thanks!
