Also this worked for one user:
Go to Tools->Internet Option->Advanced tab Scroll down to security
Section
and UNcheck the following options
"Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
"Check for server certificate revocation"
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools
3. Click on Internet Option from the drop down menu
4. Click on the Advanced tab
5. Scroll down to the Security Section
6. UNcheck "Check for server certificate revocation"
7. UNcheck "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
8. Reboot the machine
Check your proxy settings even if you're not behind a proxy server.

How to make a good newsgroup post:
http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm
..
I have just installed IE6 on my Windows 98 PC and have rebooted a couple
of times.
I tried to run Update and it did not work citing Error 0x800C0008 and
recommending I check
the time and date.
The time and date are spot on.
I also noticed that I was connected to update site V4,
is that the correct site?
How can I fix the error?
thanks
Daniel
