Error 0x80072efd while updating Defender

Hi !!!

Just installed Defender and received the message "Windows Defender
definitions haven't been updated in 48 days". So, I clicked the "Check for
Updates" button and received the Error Message "Windows Defender was unable
to complete the update: 0x80072efd".

How do I fix this problem ? Looked at this forum but looks like no one else
has faced this problem.

Hi Engel,

Thanks for your response. I have updated ALL available Windows updates for
SP2 and the products on my laptop. By the way, I do not think that this is
an issue as the message says "definitions" have not been updated and not the
software.

Hi Engel,

Sorry, my previous post was written as a Microsoft Update scan was running
with the assumption that it will not turn up anything new as I had downloaded
all express and custom updates and there were none that needed to be
downloaded.

However, the current scan turned up a definitions for Defender that needed
to be donwloaded and this one downloaded and installed beautifully.
