Error 0x80070643

I am getting an error with the initial update after installation:

Windows Defender was unable to complete the update: 0x80070643. Fatal error
during installation.

I am running Win2kSP4, and had to copy the GDI+ dll in my system32 directory
(I did not have to register it, when I did, it said it already was).

I did all that and the installation went fine, its the first update after
installation that causes the error. I even tried this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915105 and still no go.

Perform a manual Windows update en see how it goes:

I consider myself a power user. I wouldn't be on the newsgroups if it were
that easy, I've even tried scouring the registry to see if there is another
signature file that I could remove based on the KB article I mentioned to no
avail.
