I am getting error 0x80004003 invalid pointer when I click on the start scan
when it has not been scaned for more then 3 days it comes up and says that
you need to scan and to click to start it now baseitly. Anyone know how to
fix this or are getting the same problem?

Hi Eric,

Microsoft acknowledged this bug back on the 24th of February. They have
fixed the bug in house but unfortunately we will not see the fix for this bug until
they issue an update for the UI(User Interface) MSASCui.exe.

You can confirm this if you are using the Web Interface to view this forum.
Type your error code 0x80004003 into the Search box and choose either
the Announcements group or the General Discussion group. You should be able
to find several replies posted by Joe Faulhaber [MSFT] on or about the 24th of
February regarding this issue.

So far Microsoft has only issued updates for the Signature(Definitions)
files(currently at version 1.14.1315.1), and the Malware Protection Engine(mpengine.dll)
which is currently at version 1.1.1186.0.

Apparently the fix for this bug required some code changes to the
UI(User Interface) MSASCui.exe and they have not issued an update for this
executable to date, it still stands at it's original release version 1.1.1051.0.

Bottom line is that they have been sitting on this fix for three weeks now and
have not issued an update for it. ETA, currently unknown.

Some errors on "start scan" can be worked around by choosing a scan from the
menu.

Umm - this would appear to me to be a different error, not the same.

What action prompts this error message on your system?
