When trying to connect with many websites I get the
following message, after been asked to send the report to
Microsoft(many sent never got an answer)

Appname:iexplore.exe Version:6.0.2800.1106
Modname:msvcrt.dll
ModVersion:6.1.82930 offset 000154a7.

I AM RUNNING Win98.
Any help will be appreciated.

Your best bet is to start thinking about your next computer or see if your
present computer can be upgraded to Win2000 minimum. Win98 simply isn't
stable enough to run IE6 in my opinion and no matter how much you "fix" it
you will always have the possibility of crashing.
FYI, you will not get responses to those error reports so don't bother
sending them. Think how many millions of those M$ gets per day, or per hour
for that matter. Do you think yours warrant a personal response? I'm sure
they are simply parsed down to the most common errors for developer
research. They are not meant to help end-users like yourself. Sorry, but
many people on this NG need a reality check.

Hi serverguy,

I think your comments deserve an answer.

1. I am a customer of Microsoft, the same I am Honda customer, a Sony
customer, a customer of my local Supermarket, or as a shampoo or Deo user I
am a Unilever customer. And I expect from Microsoft the same service and
attention I am getting from other suppliers.
As the problem I presented is widespread, the minimum I expect is a solution
for this problem.
It is a Microsoft product that has problems and is their responsability as
suppliers to sort them out.
At the minimum publish a general solution answering the problem for everybody.

2.500MHz, 192Mb of memory and a 30Gb Hard Disk, is all I need in my Notebook.

3. Win98 with Office is also all I need to cover my usual requierements,
I DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE MY COMPUTER OR MY OPERATING SWYSTEM SIMPLY BECAUSE
MICROSOFT IS NOT ABLE TO SORT OUT A SIMPLE PROBLEM.

4. Thans to some constructive answers I found in this NG, I was able to
solve the problem in a very easy way, without changingmy computer or the
operating system: use SFC to replace de version of msvcrt.dll that is
resposible for all the problems, for the one in your Operating System CD and
voila!! everything works.

Good luck with your new computer and OS

Cris
