Hi everybody,

All of a sudden, since yesterday, I have the following problem with Outlook
2010, when trying to access one particular SMPT server (that particular
provider is Orange, in France)

I get the error message 0x800CCC13 "Impossible to connect to network...".

I have tried everything, including suppressing this specific pop/smtp
account, then re-creating it, to no avail.

The provider indicates that the problem is on my side...

Now, if I am not mistaken, this problem seems to occur when I try to send a
message with an attached document.

So, I have 2 questions : any explaination ? what should I try to investigate
further?

how can I clear the message(s) which are stuck somewhere in my Outlook
system? Please note that my Outbox is empty.

anybody?

many thanks in advance for your kind help.

with BRGDS,

Daniel

I would run a traceroute (tracert in Windows) to that mail server to
see if it's reachable from your location, and if not, where along the
path the connection dies. When the email provider says the problem is
on your side, they only mean that they don't think it's at their end.
It could still be a network problem between you and them, in which
case there isn't much you can do until it gets fixed.

Did you try to telnet to their server to even check if it responds by
establishing a connection? In a command shell, run:

telnet <smtpserver> <port>

You never mentioned the SMTP server's hostname or which port you are
using so you'll have to fill in the info above in the telnet command.
It is not important that you know what commands to send to the SMTP
server only that you can reach that host and the server running on it
will establish a connection.

Are you sure that you are using the corrent hostname for the SMTP
server? Copy the SMTP server's hostname that you specified in the
account you defined in Outlook. Then copy it into the following command
(ran in a command shell):

nslookup <smtpserver>

Maybe you have the hostname wrong. Also, which DNS server (in the
"Server:" line) of nslookup's output are you using to resolve the
hostname to an IP address?

Hi Char Jackson, VanguardLH,

thank you so much for your time and kind help.

I ran a tracert as Char suggested. No problem.

I verified my SMTP parameters. Everything was OK. Deleted the corresponding
account and recreated it. No change.

I went on the Internet and finally found this, this morning :
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/deletereadreceipt.htm

Downloaded and installed this MS utility, and there it was : not a stuck
read, but a stuck ACK and another thingy. Deleted them and now everything
seems to be OK.

Thk you so much again for your concern. Great NG, great people.

Brgds,

Daniel
