Hi.
I have Office XP with a powerpoint presentation with a
mpeg inserted. On my desktop, it works fine. On my
laptop, it did not play at all until I instead used a less-
high-quality video. I then added more memory to my laptop
(512 now) and the higher-quality video will play in
powerpoint BUT ONLY AFTER YOU PASS BY THE SLIDE AND THEN
COME BACK TO THE ONE BEFORE AND THEN GO TO THE MOVIE
SLIDE. Has anyone heard of this or have any suggestions??
Thanks,
Jon

How large is the higher-quality video? It could be that PPT just needs
time to call it up and start it. That may be why the less high-quality
video runs okay.

CPU also has alot to do with how well a movie plays. If your CPU reaches
100% usage then the video appears choppy.

Thanks for the responses, but no one has addressed the
very weird fact that the video plays fine as long as you
go past it and then go backwards to the slide before and
then forwards again.

This is the case with many graphics intensive animations etc. as PowerPoint
seems to cache them on the first run through.

Is there anything strange about the video clips? How long? How big (file
size and resolution)? - this second question is particularly relevant to
MPEG, which is sensitive to size and bitrate.

Upgrade to the latest version of DirectX for your OS.
