For some reason, my cursor will zip accross the screen when I try to use it.
Not always, just enough to be aggravating. All tests show my xp is running
properly. No virus, No adware, No spybots. All this checked every day.
Seems only to happen when I grab the mouse and prepare to move it somewhere
and then zip, it's gone. Anyone have a problem like that and had it
fixed?....Dick Roan

Are you using an optical mouse? If so, this is a common annoyance to
which I've not found a solution. (In all honesty, though, it's such a
minor thing to me that I've never really looked, either.)

Bruce, you're slipping.
Start>Control Panel>Mouse>Pointer Options tab>
slide it to the left about 1/4 inch>Apply>OK out

If it's a ball mouse, remove the ball and, using a pencil, (after
breaking off the graphite tip) remove any picked-up rubbish from the
rollers. This will look like a black strip running round the centre of
the rollers an can be stripped off easily. Blow out the inside of the
mouse and re-assemble.

yeah you may have a PS 2 mouse. I had to switch to a mouse I could use ina USB port.
Definitely aggravating.

Try a different mouse pad. I experienced a similar issue with an optical
mouse, tried a difference mouse pad and now have no more ‘zippy’ mouse.
Different materials may cause certain types of mice to act up.

Worked for me so might be worth a try.
