I run Win XP SP2 on my generic computer.
I use a SATA drive (PCI Controller) for the C: drive (boot). For my backup
drive I use an older IDE 80GB drive.
Occasionally, when I boot the computer in the morning, and try to access the
backup drive, windows cannot find the drive. However, when I reboot the
computer, the backup drive pops right up.
This can also happen when the computer goes into standby mode (I set it for
four hours): The boot drive will subsequently wake up but the backup drive
does not wake up. When I reboot, all is well.
Is my backup drive trying to tell me something, like, I am dying?
