Erasing messages from inbox when read

Recently I have had problems erasing messages from my
inbox. I delete the message and then permanently remove
them from the deleted messages however they do not leave
the inbox folder. A drop down states that an error has
occured and does not allow me to move the messages. How
can I fix this problem. Thanks and regards, Chas F
 
Your inbox.dbx file (index) may be corrupt. Rename it with .old a new one
will be created.
If all is well you can delete the .old index file.
 
This doesn't look like an internet explorer issue, go to
the newsgroup for your e-mail client 'outlook express' or
hotmail help (in the menu tree on the left.) The experts
there can probably help you troubleshoot the settings
preventing deletions.
You need to be more specific in your next post, too. What
operating system, what mail client, what settings are
enabled ie: leave a copy on my mail server, (make sure
you have selected delete from server when deleted from
inbox) etc.
