My PC: Packard Bell m848
OS: Windows XP Home Edition
RAM: 1GB Kingston_333

Issue: When i start my pc the screen is black then goes blue and goes black again. I cannot see the error because the screen changes so quickly. Then i hear 2 short beeps. IF I wait a few minutes and ty to start my pc again its fine. I got my new memory upgrade on 1-11-08.

I then went into my error log to view the past events and this is what it says;

Event: ER_KRNLCRASH_LOG 'System Error', category (102), Event ID 1003 error code 1000000a, peramter1 75b9 bd10, perameter2 00000002, perameter3 00000000, perameter4 804d90aa

Question: Is this another hardware issue, bad RAM, or virus?

Using the "Beep" code as a guide, I can narrow that down if I know what BIOS, AMI or Phoenix, your MB is using ... Your system has a memory or, a POST error problem. Or both.


If video is working, you'll see an error message. If, as you say, not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory.

First check your ram is seated correctly ... you'd be surprised at the pressure that is needed to snap these in to place. Re-seat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad.

You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first.

Also try testing the memory with one of these specific software ...
