It could be a number of things -- hard to tell from the limited information
provided. One of many possiblities is 1394 bus contention -- some models of
1394 CD-R drives and 1394 hard drives interfere with connecting a
DV-camcorder to your PC. Try having your camcorder be the only 1394 device
connected to your PC.
