I bought a R200 just 6 weeks ago and the cd tray is defective.
The plastic at the end of the tray has came loose.
So I emailed epson about it to see if I could get a new one.
They emailed me back telling me where I could buy a new one at
I think they should send me a new tray at no charge since the printer is
just 6 weeks old.
If this is the way epson honors their warranty I will not ever buy
another epson product.
John.

Did you make it plain it was a warranty claim? Epson should
honour it, failing that your claim is against the vendor, unless
it was broken by the user.

Yes I gave them the date I bought it and told them what the defect was
I have only printed 5 cd with it and that was just with a background
color and text.I like the way the printer prints on cds. that is why I
bought it.I just want for printing on cds.but with a bad tray you can't
print on cds.maybe I can fix it with some super glue.

By the looks of it, it should be fixable just by gluing it back on (It's a
bit of a crap design; if you stand the tray down on the clear plastic strip
at the end it's quite easy to snap it off). However; that's not really the
point - Epson should honour the warranty. I'd give it another go - email
them making it clear your not happy with the service (they don't read
newsgroups), and if that gets you nowhere I'd RMA the entire printer.

return it an buy a Canon.

You can't print on cds with a usa built canon.

It's unclear from your statement if the item broke or failed as a result
of a defect in manufacture or design or due to misuse of abuse. If it
is a manufacturer's defect, replacement should be honored via the
warranty. Misuse and/or abuse are rarely covered under a warranty.

It was not from misuse. It is a defect.I have only printed 5 cds with it.
the clear piece of plastic came loose at the left side of the tray.I
have emailed them again about it but now they will not answer me on it.
It is something so small and cheap that you would think epson would send
a new one.The place they told where I could buy a new one is in new york
and the smallest order they will send is $10.00 plus shipping.I have
looked at the tray and i think the plastic piece is just glued on.So I
think I will get some super glue and try that.

Sounds like Epson may be slipping down the slope in terms of customer
service. I don't know how long you've had the printer, but if Epson is
going to treat you in that manner, and if it is convenient for you, you
might want to just go to the store where you purchased it and either ask
them to exchange the bad part, or the whole printer.

It sounds like unreasonably behavior on Epson's part.
