Epson Twain Driver 5.5 Locks up on Espson 2450P

After moving and reassembling my computer, my Epson twain driver locks up
when I try to scan from image editing programs (both PaintShop Pro and Adobe
Elements). The scanner unit (Epson 2450P) scans, the Twain splash screen
comes up, the splash screen goes away, and the image editing program freezes
while "acquiring" the image. The problem occurs regardless of whether I use
the USB 2.0 port or the Firewire port. Oddly enough, when I use the Windows
XP scanner driver, everything works fine.

The only two things that I've changed was 1.) the addition of a Logitech
DiNovo keyboard/mouse (Blue Tooth) that runs off the USB 2.0 port and 2.) I
installed Jasc's Paint Shop Photo Album. I vaguely remember seeing a USB
hardware message when I installed the DiNovo keyboard (which in itself was
quite a wrestling match!), but as I said before I also have the same scanner
problem if I use the Firewire port.

Any Suggestions?

Oh, Ben I feel for you!

I have been having problems with a Dimage Scan Dual IV doing much the same
thing on a USB 2.0 VIA chip set.

Maybe you have to remove the DiNovo keyboard/mouse (Blue Tooth) and see what
happens.

Maybe go back to a wired keyboard and mouse.

Good advice, and add

Maybe add a third party (such as Adaptek AUA-4000B) USB card, and move the scanner to a
new (different) USB port.

Also, try setting the system up so that the keyboard is on a "higher" USB port, and then
try setting the system up so that the scanner is on the "higher" USB port.

[Note: By "higher' ... USB ports are set up by the OS in a defined order, and they are
addressed in that order during function such as Boot-Up. If the scanner is addressed
before the Keyboard (or vice versa) it *may* cause a problem.]

Also try disabling any COM ports, LPT and any other resources you won't be
using to free up IRQs. I know you shouldn't need to, but I lost USB 1.1 and
USB 2.0 and after that I got back USB1.1. The USB 2.0 card was moved to
another slot afterwards and everything is okay now.
