Epson stylus photo 895 head wanted

The contacts on my Epson stylus photo 895 head were badly twisted. Something
to do with the way the colour cartridge was removed from the head. I don't
have a warranty and want to replace the head myself. Anyone know where I can
buy one?

Thanks.

As far as I know, the head replacement requires a reprogramming of the
head voltages which are stored in the printer's memory, which also
require a propriety program which Epson does not allow out of its inner
sanctum (well, their repair depots have it, I suppose). However, even
if they do, they need the numbers which come from the factory with the
head, so I don't think you can just swap a head. You may be able to do
it if you swap the WHOLE head unit with the controller card, I'm not sure.

If you are speaking about the chip contacts, for the cartridge, then you
either have to replace the whole unit, or try to find a way to replace
that spring clip unit.

Thanks for reply.

I phoned Epson re: repair and they gave me the name of a company theyuse and
the girl dealing with me warned that it could cost over half the cost I paid
for the machine. She then very nicely gave numbers for companies dealing in
Epson parts. The lowest head replacement cost is about £60 incl p and p,
VAT.
I'm annoyed because the printer, which had obviously been out of Epson's
factory ages ago, was bought by me in Dixon's around April or May. I lost
the receipt and Dixons say they won't replace it without it.

Mind you I admit that I tried to cheat the machine into printing in black
only by replacing the empty colour cartridge with the chip removed. I guess
this was what damaged the machine.....or maybe not?
