I doubt this has anything to do with your OS.
According to the service manual, if only the power LED is blinking (and
the others are just off, not blinking and not on) it indicates:
1) Data is being sent ot the printer (could be a messed up spooled
image in the spooler. You can try to look in the spool queue and see if
there is anything there. Perhaps it is trying to download a corrupted
spooled image raster to the printer.
You could also check this by removing the printer from the computer
connection. For safety, since we don't know what's happening, try this
only when both printer and computer are off. Then turn on printer and
see if it is still blinking. If so, it's not that.
2) Ink sequence. This is during the time when the new ink cartridge is
being purged and set up for printing. If you recently changed a
cartridge it is possible the printer got lost during this process. With
the printer off try moving the head carriage all the way to the right
(it should already be on the right, but it might have jammed or gotten
out of sequence. After making sure it is all the way over, turn the
printer on again, and see if it goes through some type of cycle.
3) Ink cartridge replacement mode: This is when the printer is in the
midst of ink replacement, and the head carriage is in the position to
have a cartridge removed or replaced. Again something may have gotten
confused in this sequence. WIth the printer OFF you might try seeing if
the head carriage is locked or if the carriage will move. If it will,
or if you can move the lock to unlock the head carriage, try moving it
so you can remove each cartridge, clean the chip pads on each cartridge
and the wire contacts within the head carriage with a cotton swab
slightly wetted with alcohol. Be careful about not bending the wire
contacts. If some appear out of place gently try to move them back.
This wire can break so caution is required... never go any drastic
bending of these wires, they can be brittle. Then return all the
cartridges making sure they are all well set in the carriage, return the
carriage to the right side, and try turning on the printer again.
If you still get a blinking green, last attempt is to reset the EEPROM,
which might have become corrupted. To do this follow the instructions
below:
Press the Maintenance and the roll paper buttons and hold while turning
the printer on, keep holding until the POWER LED starts to flash. Let
go of all buttons. While the POWER LED is still flashing, (3 seconds)
press the Maintenance button again and hold for 10 seconds. Then shut
the printer down again.
Turn the printer back on. If the power button is still flashing, I'm at
a loss as to what else to do. I suspect it is a hardware failure at
that point.
