My Epson Stylus Photo 2200 printer has developed a problem. It spits out
the paper after I've loaded the paper, before printing.

I follow the directions in the manual, which is to set the paper lever
to the Envelope setting (for the thick Epson Velvet Fine Art paper I'm
printing on). Then I load the paper. Then I press the paper feed button
on the printer, but sometimes the paper is ejected and requires loading
several times before the printer will print.

Tony,
After you load the paper, go to your application and prepare your image to
print then go to File - Print to use the computer to initiate the commands
to the printer.

The sequence I follow on my Epson 2100 (UK version of the 2200) is.....

1) Adjust lever for paper thickness.
(Most of the time I print on thick 270g glossy photo paper on the "normal"
setting not "Envelope").
2) Insert paper
3) Switch on printer (if not already on)
4) DON'T press feed button.
5) Print from whatever application I'm using.

Sometimes the printer will suck in two pages at once but it never ejects
pages before printing.

The only time I press feed is when the paper runs out in the middle of a
multi page print run.
