Epson Stylus Photo 2000P: Problem

Just acquired second user Stylus Photo 2000P and am getting an occasional
magenta line on output (with both Black & Colour output). As it is not there
all the time, it looks like a head clogging problem, but Epson Head
Cleaning software doesn't help. So thought I would ask here to see if anyone
has experienced a similar problem and/or possible solution, before trying
anything more drastic.

Thought of trying a head cleaning cartridge but can't seen to find one for
this model (can anyone help - it uses OEM Cartridges T015 & T016).

TIA

Geoff

Sometimes a persistent line or series of fine lines at one end of the print
can be due to driver problems and can be solved by a complete uninstall,
reboot, reinstall.
I had something similar with cyan lines with a 1280 printer and that was the
advice I got from Espon email support, and it worked.
You may want to contact them as they return most support emails within a
day.

If bmoag's suggestion does not fix it, e-mail Art Entlich (look for a post from
him in this ng) and request his Epson Head Cleaning manual, it is free and he
does not spam, and his procedures have helped many people here.

Thanks, I tried to download the uptodated drivers the other day but kept on
losing the connection, I will give it another try.

Thanks, we will see how it goes

This sounds like the stuck nozzle defect. The 3 printers it most
commonly happens to are the 870, 1270 and 2000P all of which use the
same heads.

It starts intermittently, and then eventually won't go away.

It often shows on 1440 mode and not 720 dpi mode. I know of no fix
other than head replacement.

If you can scan the defect (a 2 x2" area of equivalent) and send it as a
high quality jpeg to me, I can diagnose it for you more completely.

I can be reached at:

e-printerhelp(at)mvps(dot)org

How long has it been since the Epson fix worked for you (in other words
how much printing have you done since the fix with this printer?)
