Anyone know if / when the printing facilities on this will be made properly
useable with VISTA please?

You really need to check with Epson at their web site. That's where any
Vista drivers will first be posted, assuming Epson doesn't orphan that
printer.

Hi - thanks for replying

Yeh, I had checked with the Epson website but, rather ominously(!), the
CX5200 is absent from their "Being seen to" List!

Oh, dear

Email Epson and ask directly.
However you will probably discover Epson has decided their customers
do not need Windows Vista drivers for that printer.

I know how you feel, John ... I have an Epson R200, which worked great for
me under XP. When I converted to Vista, I had not had that printer for a
year yet ... I got some basic drivers for Vista but did not get the
full-feature drivers nor the monitor software, which is what allows you to
query the printer for ink levels. I checked the website at Epson each month
since January. On July 3rd, I used my own dime to call Epson. The Tech
Support guy kept insisting that I would be able to tell which ink cartridge
needed to be replaced just by opening the lid, pushing this button, blah,
blah ... and the one that needed to be switched out would line up, blah,
blah ... I told him nevermind ... I would just turn it off. About a week
later, I started getting e-mails from store dot epson ... I smiled ... I get
the message ... vanilla
