epson stylus CX3200 paper out problem

I have just been given this printer on the condition I could fix it I could
have it.
it comes up with a paper out message all the time. I have followed the
instructions on loading paper and all has failed I still get the error.
any help appreciated

Many inkjet printers do not have a sensor that detects whether there is paper
in the hopper.
They rely on a timing condition; if the paper does not reach a certain point in
the paper path after the paper feed instruction they assume there was no paper
there to start with. That means that a "no paper" condition is actually a
"paper was not fed" condition.
If this applies to your printer the most likely cause is the roller that picks
the paper has failed to do so. If you can get at it, try cleaning the roller
with a damp cloth.
