Epson Stylus Color 400

I've had this printer for 8 years. This printer was mostly trouble free,
nothing more than minor clogs that a few cleaning cycles fixed. but then
last week the thing just decided to crap out on me. Most of the print head
nozzles became non-functional. I ran the cleaning cycle >50 times, no
improvement. I put alcohol into an empty cartridge, and with that, some of
the nozzles returned to normal, but not all so it still looked streaky. I
wouldn't get any better than that. Using the printer again with normal ink,
after some time the print head nozzles go back to non-functioning. It is
hopeless. I just don't know why the printer would crap out so suddenly. It
would just fine when I last used it a week ago. My next printer will be a
Zerox color laser. If I can fix the Epson, it's going on Ebay, if not....
junk it.

So you want to replace one piece of crap with another?! Kyocera make the
best colour lasers. I wouldn't use a Xerox if I was given it!

Just junk it. Its an Epsum after all. They are nothing butt junk to begin with.

EIGHT YEARS? And how long do you think the warranty
is for Xerox color laser printers?

Consumer inkjets are disposable items, meant to be used
for a few years and then replaced. I can't believe anyone
would complain about receiving eight years of service from
one of them. Printheads don't last forever.

Youz seem to be confusing their inkjet printers with their laser printers.
Most inkjet printers are shit - especially Epsum. Lexmark still make the
best laser printers.

Had the same thing happen to me with a 600, but it was with the black
ink. Took 21 times just to get some ink to appear. Finally, after 30+
cleaning cycles, it was back to normal. Yes, it was a genuine Epson
cartridge.

Anyway, I recall reading that Epson's have a pump for cleaning and
reservoir for spent ink. You might want to check to see if it's working
and not full.
